Quite possibly the busiest craft fair I’ve ever been to: Holiday Handmade! This annual event started tonight and continues through tomorrow (10am – 4pm) at the Sherman Event Center.

sherman events center holiday handmadeHoly moly it was crowded. And this was within minutes of opening!

I saw several crafters I’ve seen before and a lot of new ones. After talking to a few of them, it seems like many at this particular event don’t sell online and rely on the holiday market for sales.

Case in point: Erin McAllister, who sells lovely handmade Christmas stockings, of which I bought two:

Erin works at Denver Design District, so she has access to some amazing fabrics, particularly remnants. She turns them into holiday stockings, ornaments, and she makes modern, sleek textile art (to the right, on the vertical display). I love her sense of color and use of stitching. She makes fabric into art! Check out her photostream here.

But she doesn’t sell online, at least not yet. Erin is doing a one day sale next Saturday at Talulah Jones, a cute boutique on 17th Street in Denver. And, of course, she’ll be at Holiday Handmade tomorrow!

Here is one of my new stockings, hung with care!

There’s nothing quite like a holiday craft fair to get you in the mood for Christmas!
